The Korea-Africa Foundation (KAF) is sponsoring the attendance of seven Korean startups at GITEX Africa. The KAF is a division of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is responsible for a startup support programme called the Korea-Africa Unicorn Acceleration programme.
The KAF has opted to participate at GITEX Africa 2023, bringing seven Korean startups with them. Seven established businesses are all technology-based; these range from logitech to health tech to new materials to fintech to energy to biotech. All are looking for a way to grow their businesses in Africa, exploring avenues including mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and technology transfers.
To showcase their technology and goods, the startups, with the help of the KAF, host the Korea-Africa Unicorn Booth and take part in the Supernova Challenge. The KAF also sets up meetings and connections between new companies and established ones from all over the world.
Korean industries will access the market through GITEX Africa
A record amount of money has been invested in African companies, according to KAF director Lee, despite a worldwide decline in capital expenditures. This means that players in the global startup ecosystem are looking towards the African continent, an opportunity that South Korea cannot ignore. GITEX Africa is the best technology show in Africa, in my opinion.
