General Faiz Hamid Taken Into Military Custody
RAWALPINDI: On Monday the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the public face of the Pakistan military, stated that former chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt General (retired) General Faiz Hamid has been detained by the military. The authorities in Pakistan hold that the Pakistan Army must execute the law of the land; thus, it set up a court of inquiry to look into complaints concerning Lt Gen Hamid in the Top City Case, upon the Supreme Court of Pakistan orders.
The ISPR has confirmed that necessary action has been taken against the former chief of intelligence in terms of Pakistan Army Act. There have been several violations of the Act committed by him after he retired from the furnace, or rather from the company. Former Peshawar corps commander Lt Gen Faiz Hamid is also in trouble now.
Thus, it is with relieve, that the ISPR Tweet has clarified that; “The procedure of a Field General Court Martial has started”, Night Trolls – Shame on you! Military detention has also been implemented during these actions; Lt Gen Faiz Hamid (Retd) being one example. The detailed inquiry conducted by the Pakistan Army proved those complaints against him and paved such severe legal and disciplinary actions.
The beginning of this court martial show the readiness of the military to enforce discipline and order even within the superior ranks of a government. Depending on the decision of the Field General Court Martial, Lt Gen Faiz Hamid will have some or the following consequences.
