Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched the Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Programme in Punjab. The program aims to provide free and timely heart surgeries and treatment to patients suffering from heart diseases. It has been initiated under the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department to ensure patients do not have to face long waiting lines at major hospitals.
Services and Benefits of the Program
Under this program, patients will receive free treatment at 9 public and 15 private cardiac institutions. The first successful open-heart surgery under this initiative has already been performed at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Lahore, marking an important milestone in the province’s healthcare services.
Funding and Objectives
The government has allocated over 3 billion PKR annually for the treatment of heart patients. The primary goal is to eliminate long waiting lists for surgeries within six months. This initiative is also expected to strengthen the overall healthcare system in Punjab.

To help patients access the program, a dedicated helpline 0800-09009 has been established. Additionally, guidance is available via 042-99066000 and WhatsApp at 0333-6756390, ensuring that as many people as possible can benefit from the services.
