Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) has announced that a retake exam for Pakistani students would be held in October 2023 as a direct response to the disruptions that occurred on May 10, 11, and 12, 2023. The government made the declaration on Friday to ease the minds of worried students and parents about their A and AS-level test results in 2023.
The Country Director of CAIE, Uzma Yousaf, the Director of the British Council, Maria Rehman, and other educational officials gathered for a pivotal meeting at the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT). Recent exam results were discussed, and a strategy to address the differences was developed.
Pakistani students will take exams
Cambridge University will cover the cost of any retaken examinations. Logistics support will be provided at a reduced rate by the British Council. If there is a large gap between student performance on the Cambridge assessment and that of their school, the Cambridge assessment grade will be reevaluated and reassessed on a case-by-case basis.
The school will pay for 80% of any requests for a reevaluation or reassessment, with the parents covering the remaining 20%. If these assessments lead to improved grades, you will receive a full refund. As part of its efforts to ensure admissions flexibility, the Ministry will also coordinate with provincial governments to implement comparable policies and will interact with notable university vice chancellors to that end.
System will be set
The Private Institution Education Regulatory Authority (PIERA) within the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training will set up a system to address complaints that have not been resolved.
This began when Pakistani students obtained their AS and A-Level grades from Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). Due to political difficulties, exams were postponed on May 9th and 12th, resulting in unexpected final marks. Parents and students alike petitioned for make-up tests to be rescheduled when exams were postponed. The company Cambridge International responded by saying they were working towards 2019’s pre-pandemic standard.
