The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) anticipated to reveal the timetable of the eagerly awaited general elections on December 14 amid elevated political tensions in the nation, news channel reported.
ECP To Issue Elections Schedule by Dec 14th
Political parties working hard to improve their standing in the polls through electioneering and backroom maneuvering.
The final list of delimitations recently published by the electoral body, removing a significant obstacle to the polls’ announcement.
Appointment of Returning Officers
According to the Elections Act of 2017, the appointment of district, returning, and assistant officers currently in its final phase.
A district returning officer and a returning officer for each constituency appointed for elections to an assembly, respectively, in accordance with Sections 50 and 51 of the Elections Act.
Lists of government employees assigned to election duty have been provided by the Election Commission Secretariat and the provincial election commissioners.
However, the election-related training will be followed by their appointment.
CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja Statement
Separately, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja announced in a statement on National Voters Day that the printing and distribution of the final voter rolls had successfully finished.
According to him, the ECP is fully aware of all of its legal and constitutional obligations with regard to elections and related matters.
In addition, CEC Sultan Raja emphasized the Election Commission’s complete readiness and dedication while assuring voters of total security, privacy, and openness during the voting process.
In order to influence their promising future, the chief election commissioner urged the populace to cast their ballots.
To put an end to rumors of an election delay, the Finance Division released Rs. 17.4 billion to the ECP on Tuesday for poll arrangements.
Final List of Delimitations Issued
In order to facilitate the release of the election schedule, the ECP also announced last week the final list of delimitations of the constituencies of the national and four provincial assemblies.
The CEC also reaffirmed that the polls will take place at the appointed time and total security will provide by the commission.
In order to secure peaceful elections, he also urged the populace to work with the ECP and exercise their right to vote for the “bright future of the country and nation.”
CEC also reminded the populace of their “power of vote,” urging them to vote while considering their children’s future.
Every year on December 7, National Voters Day is observed to raise public awareness of the value of voter registration and to motivate voters to use their right to vote to choose their representatives.
