On Monday, the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved raising the Minimum Retail Price (MRP) for 49 medications. The government asserted that these 49 medications cost 24 to 77 percent less than those in other nations in the region, such as India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
The medications were OBS Pakistan, M/s Fresenius Medical Care Pakistan (Private) Ltd.’s MultiBic 2 mmo1/1 potassium solution for haemodialysis/haemofiltration, MultiBic 4 mmo1/1 potassium solution for haemodialysis/haemofiltration, MultiBic 3 mmo1/1 potassium solution for haemodialysis/Haemofiltratio, and others.
As a result of exchange rate variations, the ECC also approved an additional grant of Rs. 402.251 billion for debt servicing on Chinese and Saudi loans.
The currency rate was expected to be Rs. 186 to 1 US dollar, but it actually declined to an average of Rs. 235 to 1 US dollar.
ECC Meeting
Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar presided over the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet, according to an official notice made by the Ministry of Finance following the meeting.
The Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway building project received approval from the ECC to issue a GoP guarantee totaling Rs. 9.5 billion on a build-operate-transfer basis.
In order to replenish its supplies and be better equipped to respond to any coming calamity, it also approved spending Rs. 12 billion on relief materials.
The ECC also approved the Ministry of Interior’s summary for the release of money totaling Rs. 66.336 million as TSG for the building of the Michni, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Frontier Constabulary Training Centre.
16 further projects had their supplemental and technical supplementary grants authorized by the ECC.
