The deadline for filing income tax returns was extended by the government on Monday to November 30. Ishaq Dar, the minister of finance, stated during a news conference that the decision was made in response to requests for a deadline extension from the business community, merchants, and tax bar associations.
The minister stated that a number of organizations had asked for a deadline extension, citing the consequences of the recent floods.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said last Friday that it would not extend the deadline for filing income tax returns until October 31, 2022.
It is important to note that the Federal Board of Revenue had extended the date of filing of Income Tax Returns up to October 31st, 2022, for all the taxpayers who were required to file Income Tax Returns by September 30th, 2022, in light of the country’s flood situation and requests from various trade bodies, Tax Bar Associations, and facilitation of the general public.
Given the foregoing and in the best interests of the nation and Revenue, it is requested that the deadline for filing returns be extended for the time being until November 30, 2022. This will help the business community as a whole, as well as lawyers, chartered accountants, and tax professionals during these trying times.
