Cybernet, a Pakistani firm, is reportedly experiencing an outage due to a UPS battery failure, which has taken a number of sites offline.
According to a blog website, dozens of companies are experiencing outages as a result of a malfunctioning UPS battery at Cybernet’s data center in Karachi.
According to the publication, the entire system was shut down to prevent further damage. An initial check-up is being performed, and services will be restored in stages.
However, complete service recovery may take some time, and the timeline for total recovery is unknown.
Sites and services impacted by the outage include all TPL websites, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) website, PSO Cards services, and digital services from a number of banks.
A message on the PSX website read, “PSX is functioning as normal with all trading activities operating. Due to external technical hosting issues, the PSX website and PSX Data Portal Services are currently unavailable. Trading activities continue normally at the Exchange.”
Cybernet, a subsidiary of the Lakson Group, was founded in 1996 and provides connectivity services to businesses in Pakistan. In Karachi, the company operates a data centre in one of Lakson’s buildings. Both Cybernet and Lakson’s websites were unavailable at the time of writing.
Vertiv announced last year that it would supply Cybernet with equipment for a cable landing station in Karachi.
