Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister, presided over an emergency meeting on Sunday that ended with a commitment to offer as much immediate and long-term relief as possible as nationwide demonstrations against power costs began their third day.

The caretaker prime minister said the Power Division and the Finance Division have been instructed to develop a plan to bring relief to the public in a post on X (formerly known as twitter) following the meeting.

Caretaker PM Initiative
The caretaker prime minister also stated that he has requested a full report on the free electricity offered to government personnel.
He went on to say that urgent steps would be done to limit the use of electricity in government buildings.
According to a separate comprehensive press statement published by the government, the interim prime minister has requested for a clear strategy to deliver electricity bill assistance to the public within the next 48 hours.

Over Charged Electric Bills Issue To Be Resolved
According to the press release, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar stated that the government would take steps to bring assistance to the public while not adding to the national debt.
The premier would meet with provincial chief ministers to examine the implementation of energy-saving initiatives as well as the issue of inflated bills for July.
Furthermore, the prime minister asked distribution companies to propose a strategy against electricity theft as well as a plan for short, medium, and long-term power sector reforms.
