Israeli soldiers continue to advance in a ground attack on Rafah, a city in Gaza with many people. For months, activists and groups in Western Europe, Australia, and Pakistan have used the slogan “All Eyes on Rafah” to raise awareness about the ongoing war.
The phrase came from a comment by Rick Peeperkorn, the head of the World Health Organization’s Office of the Palestinian Territories.
He said, “All Eyes on Rafah” in February. This was right after Benjamin Netanyahu, who is the leader of Israel, planned to move people out of Rafah.
He wanted to attack and take away the last places where Hamas was. The saying tells people to not look away from what’s happening in Rafah.
About 1.4 million people left other parts of Gaza and are now in Rafah. Israel is attacking, even though many people who are not soldiers are there.
Groups like Save the Children, Oxfam, Americans for Justice in Palestine Action, Jewish Voice for Peace, and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign also used the saying.
They used it at protests in Paris, London, the Netherlands, New York City, and Los Angeles.
Famous celebrities in Pakistan, like actors Hania Amir, Sarah Khan, Amtul Baweja, Muniba Mazari, and Mathira put the same “All Eyes on Rafah” pictures on Instagram.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also posted the same picture on his Instagram.
