The Government of Punjab has officially released the Basant anthem #PhirAaiBasant, giving new life to one of Punjab’s most loved cultural traditions. This step recognizes Basant as a cultural festival under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. The anthem reflects joy, color, and the deep roots of Basant in Punjabi history. It also sends a clear message that culture and safety can move forward together.
Vision Rooted in Punjab’s Heritage
This initiative follows a cultural vision long associated with Nawaz Sharif, focused on protecting Punjab’s shared traditions and values. Basant has always been more than kite flying. It represents spring, hope, and community bonding. By releasing an official anthem, the government has placed Basant within a proper and regulated system while honoring its historical presence across the province.
Safety Rules for a Secure Basant
To ensure public safety, the Punjab government has announced clear rules. Roof NOCs are now mandatory for kite flying. The sale and purchase of kites and string are allowed only through government-authorised dealers. These steps aim to reduce accidents and promote discipline during celebrations. Kite flying has also been banned near Lahore Airport to protect aviation safety.
Public Convenience and Free Transport
For smooth movement during Basant days, free public transport will be available on February 6, 7, and 8. This decision is meant to reduce traffic pressure and limit the use of motorcycles and private vehicles. Motorcycle riders have also been directed to use a safety wire to prevent injuries.
A Safe and Organized Celebration
According to the Government of Punjab, these arrangements are designed to enable responsible enjoyment of Basant. The official anthem #PhirAaiBasant is now available on the government’s digital platforms, inviting people to celebrate tradition with care, order, and pride.
