Police in Karachi launched an inquiry after a thermocol statue appeared in Mehran Town ahead of Yaum-e-Quds. The sudden appearance of the statue attracted attention from local residents and quickly became a topic of discussion in the area.
Purpose of the Statue
According to authorities, the statue had been commissioned by Allama Shabar Zaidi. Officials said the structure was not meant to remain permanently in the area. Instead, it was reportedly intended to be set on fire during a protest related to Yaum-e-Quds activities.
Sculptor Statement to Police
Police also stated that the sculptor who created the statue, identified as Imran, submitted a written statement explaining the purpose of the installation. In his statement, he clarified that the statue had been produced specifically for the planned demonstration.
Symbolism and Public Discussion
Officials noted that the structure appeared to resemble Baal, an ancient deity known from historical texts. Because of this resemblance, some residents began discussing the symbolism behind the statue and its connection to the planned protest.
Ongoing Police Review
Police authorities said they are currently reviewing the situation to understand the full context of the installation. However, according to officials, no legal action has been taken so far while the matter remains under inquiry.
