Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Gomal University (GU), Prof. Dr. Masroor Ellahi Babar, will consult with syndicate members today to decide how to divide the institution’s assets.
The change occurs after the VC Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad was ordered to take a three-month leave of absence by Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, the acting governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
In spite of the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) declaration that the distribution was “illegal,” Ghani designated Prof. Babar as the Acting VC who will preside over the meeting for the agenda indicated above.
Legal authorities have also determined that individuals participating will be held in contempt of court for violating the ruling by holding this meeting.
GU’s two professors, two associate professors, 20 assistant professors, 30 lecturers, 10 laboratory assistants, as well as a number of clerks and security guards, have already been relocated to the planned Agriculture University by Acting VC Babar.
It should be noted that the choice to send VC Ahmad on vacation was purportedly made at the request of former Federal Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who reportedly threatened him and demanded his quick resignation or forced removal since he opposed the distribution decision.
