According to details, the Lahore Waste Management Company held an important meeting on the Waste to Energy Project, which was presided over by LWMC Chairman Atif Chaudhry.
Among those in attendance were CEOWMC Ali Anan Qamar and Deputy Secretary Development Shahid Latif.
According to Atif Chaudhry, a team from a Norwegian company has arrived in Pakistan for a preliminary survey; this company will invest $300 million in the Waste to Energy project.
According to Atif Chaudhry, the completion of this project will result in the creation of 2000 new jobs.
Sindh Minister Imtiaz Sheikh previously stated that the provincial government has decided to launch an environmentally friendly project for the production of electricity in Karachi.
According to Imtiaz Shaikh, the city generates 8,000 to 10,000 tonnes of garbage per day, which could help produce 200 megawatts of electricity. “Four 50-megawatt power plants would be installed in the city for power generation,” the minister said.
He stated that the Lakho Der landfill site’s 20 million tonnes of waste would be used to generate electricity.
According to him, the goal of the Waste to Energy project was to provide citizens with a clean environment as well as modern facilities.
Furthermore, a Norwegian company was working on a waste-to-energy project in Colombia and Ecuador.
The chairman stated that the Punjab Chief Minister would be briefed on the project at the meeting on Wednesday, and that the ‘Waste to Energy’ project would help reduce environmental pollution. He stated that the project would create 2000 new jobs.
He urged citizens to take on the role of civilised citizens and practise waste segregation.
“It’s time to take a step forward and make sure to adopt the habits of three bins, so thatLahore waste management company could do more work on waste-to-energy projectsin the city with your support” he added.
