According to a recent source, both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be in short supply after their September launch. Problems with LG Display’s screen production appear to be at the heart of this shortage. These issues are the result of a new production method that was implemented to minimise the bezel size. This seems to be akin to problems Apple had with earlier versions of the Apple Watch.
Screen issue is responsible for less supply at launch
LG displays used in the iPhone 15 Pro and, more specifically, the Pro Max reportedly fail reliability testing during the fusing process that secures the display to the metal body of the device. Apple is presently working on altering the design of the LG-produced panels to make them pass these tests in an effort to fix this problem. However, Apple also has displays manufactured by Samsung on hand in case any problems arise during assembly.
However, it is thought that the restricted number of units accessible immediately from the launch would be the result of these issues, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max expected to be the toughest to get, followed by the Pro model.
Earlier reports indicated that Apple may delay the release by a few weeks. This new information, however, casts doubt on that notion and lends support to the shortage concept. Whatever the case may be, it’s certain that a problem with the displays is delaying Apple’s release schedule.
