Surprisingly, up to 83.5 percent of CSP [Civil Service of Pakistan] officers failed an exam held by the Ministry of Commerce to appoint trade officers in Pakistani missions abroad.
The written exam was taken by 195 officers from various ministries and departments, as well as professionals from the private sector; however, only 32 candidates passed. The exam for the positions was taken by 162 candidates, and 162 of them failed.
According to Ministry of Commerce sources, the exam was held at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi for the purpose of appointing government and private sector professionals to promote trade and investments in Pakistan’s foreign missions.
According to the results, Arooj Mahwish Rizvi of the FBR Inland Revenue Service (IRS) topped the written exam with 75.75 percent marks, while Malik Abdul Majeed of the private sector came in second with 73.25 percent marks.
Similarly, Zain Aziz from the Office Management Group came in third place with 72.25 percent of the vote.
According to sources, nine officers from the Commerce and Trade Department and ten officers from the Inland Revenue Service passed the written exam, along with four officers from the Pakistan Administrative
Service, five officers from the Customs Group, two candidates from the Office Management Group, and two others from the private sector.
Those who passed the written exam will be interviewed next. The Ministry of Commerce will send a summary of the interviews to the Prime Minister for approval of the appointments following the interviews.
Overseas trade officers will be assigned to 17 stations in the first phase. Economic Minister will be posted in Brussels, Trade and Investment Minister will be posted in Kabul, Moscow, and New Delhi, and Consul General Trade and Investment will be posted in Istanbul, as part of these 17 stations.
Consular and Attaches for Trade and Investment will be stationed at the remaining 12 stations. The trade officers will be stationed in other countries for a three-year period.
