Babar Azam, playing for the Colombo Strikers in the current fourth season of the Lanka Premier League (KPL), hit his first fifty in the league’s history in his team’s previous encounter against B-Love Kandy at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
The right-handed batter helped the team to a defendable total by scoring 59 runs off 52 balls, including four fours and one six.
The Colombo Strikers won by 27 runs, and after the game, Niroshan Dickwella praised the 28-year-old batter for his consistency and never-say-die attitude.
Captain urges to follow Babar Azam
In the locker room, the Strikers’ captain urged his team to take a page out of the Lahore-born cricketer’s book and figure out how to win games under pressure.
Study those who have already achieved success. He kept trying and trying. Batting was difficult on that wicket, and he stuck around until the end. Dickwella remarked, “That inning really helped us out.”
Important two points were earned by them thanks to the match-winning innings of their all-format captain Babar Azam, who was named Player of the Match. The Colombo Strikers have a 1-1 record, good enough for third place.
