which will be dedicated to producing cutting-edge electric vehicles (EVs) not only for Saudi Arabia but also for global markets.

Electrifying Mobility

Lucid’s strategic move is consistent with the Saudi Green Initiative’s overarching goal of having 30% of all new cars sold in Saudi Arabia be electric vehicles by 2030.

This initiative places Lucid at the forefront of the Kingdom’s efforts to advance electric mobility.

Vision of Peter Rawlinson

Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid Group, expressed his enthusiasm about this historic occasion, stating, “We are delighted to make history today in Saudi Arabia by opening the country’s first car manufacturing facility, which will produce our award-winning electric vehicles and support the country’s vision for a more sustainable and diversified economy.”

Rawlinson further revealed that customers are already taking delivery of their Saudi-assembled Lucid vehicles, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global reach.

AMP-2’s Assembly Process

The semi-knocked-down assembly process has begun at the AMP-2 factory, which currently has a capacity of 5,000 automobiles per year.

During this initial phase, prefabricated Lucid Air vehicle “kits” are reassembled at the company’s US AMP-1 Manufacturing Facility in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Looking ahead, Lucid has ambitious plans to transition AMP-2 to full unit production by the middle of the decade, adding a significant 150,000 cars to its annual production capacity.

Faisal Sultan’s Point of View

Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director of the Middle East at Lucid Group, emphasized the significance of this facility’s opening:

“The opening of our facility today marks the beginning of our production operations to assemble our world-class Lucid Air.

AMP-2 in KAEC, in addition to our existing AMP-1 facility in Arizona, gives us the ability to efficiently fulfill the recently signed agreement with the government of Saudi Arabia to purchase up to 100,000 vehicles over a 10-year period, with an initial commitment to purchase 50,000 vehicles and an option to purchase up to an additional 50,000 vehicles over the same period.”

Lucid’s entry into Saudi Arabia is a significant step forward in the global electric vehicle manufacturing landscape, demonstrating the country’s commitment to environmentally friendly and forward-thinking innovation.
