Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) confirmed on Wednesday that internet speed has been fully restored across the country. The restoration followed the completion of repair work on a faulty repeater in an undersea cable system. Earlier, users from upper Punjab and the federal capital had reported slower connectivity, made worse by ongoing law and order challenges in some regions.
Repair Work Completed Successfully
According to PTCL spokesperson Amir Pasha, maintenance work was carried out by an international cable consortium. The repair process began at 11 am on October 14 and was completed successfully the following day. Pasha stated that internet speeds have now returned to normal levels throughout Pakistan, ensuring smooth browsing, streaming, and communication experiences for users.
Multiple Cable Systems Ensure Connectivity
PTCL operates three major submarine optical fiber cable networks that connect Pakistan to the global internet. In addition, the country also benefits from three other systems, two owned by Trans World Associates (Pvt) Ltd and one by Cyber Internet Services under the PEACE cable. Together, these six systems provide Pakistan with a total data capacity of 13 terabits per second (Tbps).
Network Now Performing Efficiently
With national internet usage averaging between 7 and 8Tbps, the recent restoration has brought the network back to optimal performance. Experts believe this repair will enhance stability and prevent future slowdowns. PTCL thanked users for their patience and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining seamless internet access for homes, businesses, and digital services across Pakistan.
