How to hide your details on google maps in just 5 easy steps

The Street View function on Google Maps is an excellent resource for discovering new businesses, routes, and destinations in the immediate neighborhood. Google’s Street View isn’t widely accessible in Pakistan, but it’s a great way to get a bird’s-eye view of a location or explore a new one.

However, Street View on Maps also identifies local businesses, structures, parked vehicles, and roadways. Everything is displayed as it would appear to an observer in the real world. This might lead to sensitive information being leaked to the public, thus Google has implemented safeguards to prevent this from happening.

Google has a privacy plan or something.

Official Google support states, “Street-level collections and Photo Paths are automatically blurred to obscure identifying information like faces and license plates.” You may control how much personal information is revealed by blurring certain parts of a 360-degree shot if you’re the one uploading it.

If you find something on Google Maps that you believe should be blurred or shouldn’t be visible to the public, you can ask it to investigate and take appropriate action. If the photo was uploaded by you or someone you know, you can also ask them to obscure the offending detail. And it may be anything that you don’t want displayed on Street View, including your house, building number, address, automobile license plate, and so on.

If you have something similar and it’s troubling you, too, you can ask Google to hide it in the same way. However, before you do that, there are certain things you should know. Once blurred, photographs cannot be recovered. There is no way to restore their clarity.

Unfortunately, Google has discontinued support for Photo Paths. Google Maps does not accept any new Photo Paths at this time. If the Maps does not own the image, it is the responsibility of the image’s owner to blur it before it is made public. However, you can file a report with it and ask that the image be blurred.

How to Proceed

  1. First, access “maps.google.com” using Chrome or another supported browser.
  2. If you haven’t already, log in.
  3. Go to the spot where you want Maps to obscure out details (e.g., your home’s address or license plate)
  4. Four, select “Report a problem” by clicking the three vertical dots next to the place’s name.
  5. On the following page, report the address, license plate, etc. Select the cause for the report, enter the captcha, and enter your email address, and then click Submit.
