The US Postal Service has revised its free COVID-19 at-home test webpage to indicate that citizens can now order a third round of government-provided fast exams (h/t Alexander Tin and DrAltGov on Twitter). In comparison to prior rounds, you’ll receive twice as many tests – eight instead of four.
The process is basically the same as it was when COVIDTests.gov was introduced in January: you go to the website, put in your name and address, and the tests will arrive in your mailbox.
However, because you’re getting eight tests this time, the USPS says they’ll be sent in two distinct parcels. Each will be assigned a tracking number.
If you missed any of the rounds (i.e., you didn’t order tests in January and/or March), you’ll be able to submit a second order, according to the order confirmation page.
The USPS revealed in March that it has distributed over 270 million tests. Since then, the agency doesn’t appear to have updated their total, but we called out to see if there was a more recent statistic and will update this article if we hear back. For the time being, you can order your tests by visiting COVIDTests.gov and following the instructions.
