Google has recently introduced a new option to the Google Play Store that will allow customers to better manage their Android smartphone capacity without having to delete apps. Auto-archive, similar to iOS’ Offload apps, automatically frees up roughly 60% of the app’s storage space on the device without actually removing the program. This eliminates any concern for users who might accidentally delete the program along with all of its associated data.
Automatic archiving… what exactly is that?
The new auto-archive feature eliminates the need to delete apps entirely while freeing up storage space. When used, the feature causes the Android device to clean out some of the space occupied by programs that are rarely used. A cloud icon will appear on top of the program after it has been partially uninstalled. To continue using the app from where the user left off, they need only reinstall it.
According to a post on Google’s official developer site, the auto-archive capability is limited to developers that distribute their products via the App Bundle. To activate auto-archive on android, please follow these steps:
When the Android device’s memory is full, you should try installing a new app.
1. Attempt to install a new app when there is insufficient space on the device.
2, if the user has not enabled auto-archive, a box will display requesting them to do so.
3 Press the Power button
That is it. The device’s auto-archive function has been activated. From now on, the Play Store will automatically remove incompatible and uninstalled apps to make room for newer ones.
