With the introduction of electric waste management trucks, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is moving closer to its net-zero goals.
UAE’s Electric Waste Management Trucks
Renault Trucks Middle East and Al Masaood have collaborated to launch the region’s first fully electric waste trucks, which will be used by Tadweer, an Abu Dhabi-based waste management company.
Renault Trucks built the vehicles after a successful partnership agreement was signed at the EcoWaste Exhibition and Conference.
Renault Trucks E-tech will conduct a pilot program to evaluate the truck’s performance in high temperatures and overcome logistical challenges such as charging infrastructure.
This initiative will collect useful data and ensure the truck’s efficiency along critical routes. The electric trucks will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 4,000 tons per year.
These vehicles have an impressive operational capability, with a range of up to 200 kilometers.
Ali Al Dhaheri, Tadweer’s Managing Director and CEO, expressed the company’s commitment to driving a sustainable future and supporting Abu Dhabi’s Environment Vision 2030 and the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 ambitions.
He also emphasized Tadweer’s role as a waste management pioneer, utilizing advanced technologies to ensure successful operations.
