Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) has halted production once more due to a lack of parts and inventory caused by import restrictions.

Toyota’s Assembly Plant

The assembly plant will be closed from July 21 to August 3, according to the most recent notification. Earlier today, the manufacturer informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) of the development.

The following is the notification:

Because of non-issuance of Letters of Credit (LCs) and supply chain issues, the automaker and its suppliers are still having difficulty importing raw materials and obtaining clearance for their shipments.

The supply chain of the company has been disrupted, with vendors unable to supply basic materials and components.

This is Indus Motor’s sixth production closure announcement this year. The company previously declared a complete factory closure from June 26 to June 27, June 3 to June 8, May 2 to May 3, February 1 to February 14, and then again from March 24 to March 27 due to an inventory deficit.

A similar problem plagues the local automobile industry, with many automakers reportedly treading water.
