The School Education Department of Punjab has announced reduced school hours for the holy month of Ramadan.

According to a notification published on Monday by the provincial School Education Department, classes at single-shift schools will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 1:00 p.m. from Monday through Thursday and Saturday. On Friday, schools will close 30 minutes early, at 12:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, double-shift schools will hold morning-shift sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Classes for the afternoon shift will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday.

However, on Friday, lessons at these institutions will start at 2:00 p.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Furthermore, the School Education Department has eliminated morning assemblies.

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department published a new schedule for school hours during Ramadan.

According to the new directive, elementary schools in the province will begin classes at 7:30 a.m. and end at 11:10 a.m., with the exception of Fridays, which will end at 10:05 a.

During Ramadan, middle, intermediate, and higher secondary schools will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with Friday classes ending at 10:25 a.m.
