Geely, the Chinese automaker, was said to be working on an electric pickup truck, and now we have the first official teaser images of it. The upcoming Geely electric pickup truck will be sold under the Radar electric pickup truck brand.
The blue camouflaged test mule, as seen in the patent images, has a fascia with slim headlamps connected by a light bar.
The side profile has prominent wheel arches, while the back has full-width connected lights and ‘Geely’ lettering on the tailgate.
The pickup truck has a commanding stance, but the road clearance appears to be less than that of a standard pickup truck.
Geely has yet to release official details about the Radar electric pickup truck, but based on the images, it is likely to be the same size as compact pickups like the Toyota Hilux or Isuzu D-Max that we have here.
It will reportedly be built on Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform, making it a unibody platform rather than a body on frame construction like most pickup trucks.
SEA is a versatile platform that also serves as the foundation for the Zeekr 001 coupe SUV and the Smart #1 electric SUV.
As the world shifts away from fossil-fuel vehicles and toward electrified vehicles, automakers are expanding their offerings beyond traditional sedans and hatchbacks. The latest domains where automakers are showering electrification are large SUVs and pickup trucks.
The Geely Radar electric pickup truck is expected to hit the market in July 2022, competing with the likes of Sany, Foton Tunland EV, and Dongfeng Rich 6 EV.
