Qiantu, the company behind the K50 electric supercar, has launched a new two-seat sports cars EV hatchback with a starting price of just $13,000 USD (PKR 27.59 lac).
Qiantu is a subsidiary of CH Auto and was one of the first automakers in China to be granted a manufacturing license for electric vehicles.
However, the company had a shaky start, delivering only a few hundred K50 units before ceasing operations in 2019. However, it received new funding last year and is now returning with the Qiantu K20 electric hatchback.
The vehicle first appeared as a concept a few years ago, and the final production version is very similar to that concept, with a few minor differences.
The front end has been styled with slimmer headlights and a revised bumper design, and the door handles have been relocated from the door itself to just behind the door.
However, the rear flying bolster design remains largely unchanged, while the light bar spans the entire width of the vehicle and bears the ‘Qiantu Motors’ lettering in the center. The interior is primarily grey, with gold accents on the door panels, dashboard, and seats.
The steering wheel has a sporty flat bottom, the driver-focused screen is divided into three sections, and the drive selector is located on a stalk behind the steering wheel.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Qiantu has yet to officially release the technical specifications for the K20 electric hatchback, but sources claim that.
- The Qiantu K20 will be equipped with a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system with a total power of more than 160kW (215hp) and torque of more than 290 Nm.
- The turbo engine is powerful enough to propel the K20 from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds despite its light body weight of 780 kg.
- The company has not disclosed the battery pack’s energy capacity, but it claims that the single motor version can travel up to 500 km on a single charge.
