With a surge in XR technology adoption expected, OPPO believes that MR is one of the most promising modalities.
It intends to release the OPPO MR Glass in China as an official Snapdragon Spaces developer kit in order to foster innovation in MR applications. This move aims to bring in more developers and push the boundaries of XR technology.
Yi Xu, Director of XR Technology at OPPO, expressed the company’s commitment to exploring XR technologies and revolutionizing interaction and information accessibility during his keynote speech at AWE 2023.
Xu cited the OPPO MR Glass as a game-changing product, equipped with advanced Snapdragon Spaces capabilities that enable developers to unlock limitless possibilities for XR innovation.
OPPO and Qualcomm Technologies have a long history of collaboration and a shared vision of creating an open ecosystem that empowers developers and unlocks the potential of XR innovation.
OPPO’s efforts in exploring technologies, products, content, and services for XR were recognized by Said Bakadir, Senior Director, XR Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Bakadir is optimistic about the potential solutions for improving productivity, creativity, and gaming experiences on the MR Glass. OPPO and Qualcomm’s collaboration aims to spur more innovation in the MR ecosystem.
MR Glass is designed to provide developers with the best platform for creating and testing cutting-edge MR experiences.
The MR Glass, which is powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ platform, includes proprietary SUPERVOOC fast charging and heart rate detection function, enabling a wide range of new applications.
The device is made of skin-friendly materials and features Binocular VPT (Video Pass Through) technologies, dual front RGB cameras, pancake lenses, and a high refresh rate of 120Hz.
OPPO has been actively working on advanced XR technology-related concept products in recent years, empowering developers to collaborate on innovation.
OPPO has explored numerous possibilities in algorithms, optical solutions, interactions, and ecosystems since the release of the first AR concept product, AR Glass, in 2019, to the subsequent launches of AR Glass 2021, Air Glass, and Air Glass 2.
Among the accolades bestowed upon XR efforts is the silver award in the AR category of the Edison Product Awards 2023 for Air Glass.
It has also created the augmented reality application CybeReal, as well as other innovations that seamlessly connect the physical and digital worlds.
In China, the MR Glass will be available as a Snapdragon Spaces developer kit through EnlightXR in the second half of 2023.
This will provide developers with cutting-edge hardware and help to expand the Snapdragon Spaces content ecosystem in China.
