Nubia has unveiled the world's first Android phone with magnetic charging

Nubia, a ZTE subsidiary, has officially unveiled the Nubia Z40 Pro in China, a successor to the Nubia Z30 Pro.

Design & Display

The Z40 Pro weighs 199g and measures 161.9 x 72.9 x 8.4mm. It has a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display, a refresh rate of 144Hz, and a pixel density of 395 PPI. Except for the placement of the camera module, the handset has a similar box layout to the Z30 Pro.

The phone has a metallic frame and anti-glare glass, and it comes in two colors: Interstellar Black and Galaxy. A limited edition handset based on the anime ‘The Outcast’ is also available.

Internals & Storage

The Z40 Pro features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, 8/12/16GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 128/256/512/1TB UFS 3.1 internal storage capacities. The smartphone runs MyOS 12, which is based on Android 12.

The phone also has dual-SIM support, 5G connectivity, DTS: X Ultra support for dual stereo speakers, and an x-axis vibration motor.

Camera

The Nubia Z40 Pro camera has three sensors: a 64MP Sony IMX787 primary sensor with OIS support, a 50MP 116° ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP periscope sensor with 9x optical zoom.

The 16MP selfie camera is housed within the center punch-hole.

Battery & Pricing

The standard version of the smartphone comes with a 5,000mAh battery and support for 80W fast wired charging. The smartphone’s limited ‘Gravity’ edition includes a 4,600mAh battery pack with 66W fast charging and 15W fast magnetic wireless charging support. The limited edition is the world’s first to include magnetic charging.
