The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a Rs. 1.71 per unit increase in the price of electricity for ex-Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs) on Thursday.

According to the power regulator’s notification, the tariff increase will apply to all consumer categories except Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) and lifeline consumers.
Furthermore, the increase will be shown separately in consumers’ bills based on units billed to consumers in August 2023.
The fuel charges adjustment for August 2023 will be reflected in the billing month of October 2023 by distribution companies.
It is worth noting that DISCOs filed a petition for a Rs. 1.82 per unit increase for units billed in August.
Last month, the power regulator announced a Rs. 1.46 per unit increase in electricity prices due to fuel charges adjustments for DISCOs based on units billed to consumers in July 2023.
