Authorities have warned that telecommunications services may be disrupted as cyclone Biparjoy approaches quickly.

The cyclone, named Biparjoy, is expected to make landfall on Thursday afternoon between Mandvi in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan, with sustained winds of 125-135 km/h (78-84 miles/h) and gusts of 150 km/h (93 miles/h).
“There is a risk of mobile network outages during the rains,” the Sindh health department said in a statement, as authorities evacuated thousands from vulnerable areas.
The health department has notified all medical facilities and doctors, advising people to stay indoors as rains of 60mm-100mm are expected in the province.
“Traffic jams on highways may occur due to poor drainage conditions.” “There are also concerns that rainwater will cause road closures,” the department said.
People should avoid going near poles and power lines, according to the department. “In an emergency, people should dial 1092.”
Fishermen in the southern costal belt have been advised not to go to sea, and those who have gone out have been called back.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority, precautionary measures are being taken in southern and southeastern areas that may be affected, and so the mobile networks as well.
“Its (cyclone’s) evolving impact will be certain only with further development of the situation,” the authority stated.
