The provincial caretaker government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has denied to approve the Transport Department’s plea for the delayed distribution of Rs. 800 million for the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) Peshawar.

According to a national daily, the province government usually allots Rs. 400 million to the BRT each month, but money for May and June are still outstanding.
Saddaf Kamil, a TransPeshawar representative, stated that the Transport Department has talked with the relevant departments about the trailing amount.

However, Saddaf Kamil reported that the government has resumed its usual payout schedule following the two months in question.
Another BRT representative stated that the Transport Department has communicated with the Finance Department, requesting the release of Rs. 800 million to cover contractor debts.
This correspondence was formalised with an official letter from the Transport Department to the provincial finance department, requesting immediate attention to the issue.
