IT Ministry will re-post jobs for Executive Director of NITB

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has chosen to re-advertise the job for the appointment under the NITB Act, which has caused the Executive Director (ED) National Information Technology Board (NITB) appointment to take on a new twist.

According to sources who spoke to sources, the MoITT has decided to restart the process of appointing a new ED under the NITB Act as a result of Dr. Sohail Munir’s unwillingness to accept the position of ED NITB. Previously, it was planning to resend the summary to the federal cabinet for approval of the second name that the interview panel had decided upon.

Dr. Sohail Munir was offered a job by the ministry on August 4, 2022, after the federal cabinet had authorized his nomination as ED. Dr. Munir, however, declined to participate and formally informed the government of his unavailability because of a job abroad.

Since around 16 months ago, the ED NITB (MP-1 Scale) position has been vacant. The position of ED NITB is currently under the additional responsibility of Additional Secretary MoITT Ayesha Humira. The Director General (DG) Admin NITB, (MP-2 Scale) position has also been unfilled for the past four months.

It is important to note that President Dr. Arif Alvi signed the NITB bill into law on August 14, 2022.
