SpaceX, according to Elon Musk, would transport humans to Mars in ten years in the worst-case scenario.
The determining criteria are spaceship engineering and cost minimization. “No amount of money can buy you a trip to Mars,” Lex Fridman added.
Elon Musk stated that SpaceX’s Starship rocket will transport people to Mars in ten years in the best-case scenario. In the worst-case scenario, the billionaire remarked, “The best case is roughly five years, the worst case is ten years.”
The vehicle’s design was a deciding factor, according to Musk, who added that “Starship is the most complicated and advanced rocket ever built.”
“The basic optimization of Starship is to minimize the cost per ton for orbit and ultimately the cost per ton for the Martian surface,” Musk told Fridman on the podcast
“No amount of money can get a ticket to Mars,” he said on the podcast. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO has predicted multiple dates for his company’s arrival and landing on the Red Planet.
Musk said in an interview with the Clubhouse audio app in February that it will be “five and a half years” before a manned SpaceX spacecraft mission takes place.
Missile could land on the red planet. Musk tweeted in March that his aerospace company would land its Starship missiles “long before” 2030 on Mars.
If things don’t go exactly as planned during the three remaining launch possibilities until 2026, experts fear it could take longer than expected.
Musk has ultimately decided to build 1,000 Starship rockets and launch three of them every day to transport a million people to Mars.
