In Malaysia, Proton X90 Was Seen Testing

The X90, a 7-seat SUV, is the new flagship model that Proton has been working on for its lineup.

The flagship Proton X90, like the X70 and X50, will be based on a Geely model, in this case the Haoyue, as all upcoming Protons will now be based on rebadged Geely models.

Since the test rounds have been ongoing for quite a few months, Geely Haoyue has been spotted testing in Malaysia previously.

Additionally, the camouflaged test vehicle was a left-hand drive model, indicating that the Proton X90 launch is still some time off.

The right-hand drive X90 will, like the X70 and X50, have minor cosmetic changes to set it apart from the Geely model it is based on.

According to Roslan Abdullah, deputy CEO of Proton, the X90 won’t be introduced until the following year (in Malaysia). He stated: “It [X90] was supposed to be launched this year, which was the original plan, if it wasn’t for the MCO [movement control order] last year. It was supposed to be in Q3 this year, but then the timeline dragged on and on, and now our friends in China [Geely] also got hit with lockdown.”
