Google Chat is changing the way we communicate with one another. Staying in touch has never been easier, whether you’re organizing activities with your softball team, planning trips with friends, or sharing funny videos with family members.
Google Chat has introduced seven new and upcoming features that will make messaging your loved ones more convenient and enjoyable.
7 New Features of Google Chat
- Smart Compose: This feature, which is already available in Gmail and Google Docs, allows you to compose responses in Chat with ease. It reduces spelling and grammar errors with contextually aware suggestions.
Relevant suggestions appear as you type, and you can accept them with a simple tap of the tab key. Smart Compose, which supports multiple languages, is now available to all Chat web users. - Message Revision: You can now fine-tune previous messages to ensure clarity, accuracy, and the appropriate tone.
If starting over is the better option, you can easily delete the message. All Chat users can now use this feature. - Message Quoting: When a group chat moves quickly and covers a wide range of topics, it can become overwhelming. You can now quote a specific message when replying to maintain organization and keep everyone in sync.
This enables the group to identify the comment to which you are responding without disrupting the main discussion. All Chat users can now use the quote feature. - Read Group Message Receipts: Uncertainty regarding message delivery or read status can be inconvenient. With read receipts for group messages in Chat, you’ll know when someone has read your message.
Their avatar will appear below the message, and you can hover or tap to see the full list of recipients in larger group chats. Read receipts for group messages are now available on mobile and the web. - Text for Hyperlinks: Instead of clogging up conversations with long URLs, you can now hyperlink relevant text within your messages, similar to how Google Docs and Slides work.
Select the desired text, then click the “Insert link” icon in the formatting toolbar and paste or type the URL. This feature will be available soon on the web and on Android. - Conversation Management: You can choose to hide direct messages and inactive spaces older than seven days to help you declutter and stay organized.
If you have more than ten conversations or spaces, this feature will activate. Your entire conversation history is still visible, and any new messages will bring the hidden conversations back to the top. - Integration of Chat Apps: Add useful apps to your group chats and spaces to improve your conversation management experience.
You can, for example, add Asana to create to-do lists and assign responsibilities, or Zapier to receive custom notifications.
You can also spice up your conversations with Giphy GIFs. You will soon be able to download apps to expand the capabilities of personal chats and spaces.
Google Chat hopes to simplify and improve communication with friends and family by incorporating these new and upcoming features. Stay in touch with ease and enjoy a seamless messaging experience.
