The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) Rules have been authorized by the Cabinet Committee for Disposition of Legislative Cases.

The CERT Rules have been authorized by the Cabinet Committee, according to sources in the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, and will now be forwarded to the Cabinet for confirmation.

The IT Ministry prepared the certification guidelines and requested feedback on the regulations from government and private sector regulators.

Officials from MoITT claim that the Federal Board of Revenue, various ministries, and the banking industry were all given access to the draught regulations.

Input From Different Organizations on CERT

The rules were also subject to input from PEMRA, OGRA, PTA, and other institutions before the final draught was submitted to CCLC for approval.

A thorough plan against cyberattacks would be established at the organizational level after the guidelines have been approved, according to the officials.

According to the regulations, all the authorities would create sector-level computer emergency response teams and support the private sector.

A team of information security professionals known as a Computer Emergency Response Team is in charge of protecting an organization from, detecting, and responding to computer emergencies.

A National Computer Emergency Response Team and National Security Operation Centre (nSOC) would be set up under the National Cyber Security Policy 2021 to lessen cyberthreats.

To prevent cyberattacks and the harmful use of ICTs in cyberspace, sectoral CERTs must be developed in the defence, telecom, banking and finance, power, federal, and provincial sectors.
