A fire started at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi. It happened on Monday on the fourth floor. Trading stopped because of this. Trading will start again at 12:25 pm.
PSX said the situation is now under control. Brokerage staff is back to their offices. They sent a second notice about this.
The market will reopen smoothly. Trading stopped from 10:25 am to 11:25 am. This was due to the fire in a brokerage office. Firms could not access the building.
At 11:35 am, trading was still stopped. People expected another delay of one hour. Before trading stopped, the KSE-100 index was at 80,240.83 points. This was a rise of 28.04 points.
Saeed Ahmed Soomro from Pakistan Stock Exchange talked about the fire. Four fire brigades came to help. They managed the fire. The fourth floor has brokerage offices. They controlled the situation. The fire’s cause is unknown.
A brokerage house emailed clients about the problem. They lost connectivity with Pakistan Stock Exchange. The IT team worked hard to fix it.
In 2018, a fire also happened at Pakistan Stock Exchange. It was on the rooftop. PSX’s firefighting team controlled it in 40 minutes. Trading and clearing were not affected.
