Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, has announced a groundbreaking initiative to provide electric bikes for working women on easy installment plans. Chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Bugti emphasized that the scheme seeks to empower women, promote independence, and ease mobility challenges. The move highlights the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
Promoting Economic Independence for Women
During the announcement, CM Bugti stated that empowering women is central to Balochistan’s progress. By offering accessible and safe transport, the government aims to encourage women to participate fully in economic and social sectors. The installment-based electric bike scheme will help working women reduce reliance on costly or unsafe travel options, ensuring greater self-reliance.
Accessible Payment Options Introduced
According to officials, the scheme will operate through convenient installment plans, allowing women from diverse backgrounds to benefit. The payment system has been designed to reduce financial strain while ensuring long-term affordability. By removing barriers of cost and accessibility, the initiative intends to increase women’s mobility across urban centers, encouraging wider female participation in professional fields.
Expansion of Green Bus Fleet
Alongside the electric bike initiative, Balochistan’s government is also expanding its electric bus fleet under the Green Bus scheme. Procurement of new buses has been finalized, and the vehicles are expected to arrive at Karachi Port by mid-October. Once deployed, these buses will operate in major urban areas, improving public transport standards significantly.

Pink Bus Service for Women’s Safety
In addition to electric bikes, a Pink Bus Service dedicated exclusively to female passengers will soon be launched. This service aims to provide women with safe, affordable, and reliable commuting options. The buses will help address issues of harassment and limited mobility, ensuring that women feel secure while traveling to workplaces, schools, and markets.
CM Bugti’s Commitment to Urban Mobility
During the meeting, CM Bugti directed relevant authorities to complete both the electric bike scheme and Green Bus expansion by October. He described the projects as essential steps toward solving citizens’ transport difficulties. By focusing on modern, eco-friendly solutions, the provincial government hopes to reshape urban mobility while easing everyday hardships for commuters.
Eco-Friendly Transport Solutions
Officials highlighted that these initiatives represent a major shift towards sustainable transport. Electric bikes and buses will reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower emissions, and contribute to a cleaner environment. At the same time, they provide inclusive commuting options tailored to the needs of women and other vulnerable groups, reinforcing Balochistan’s focus on eco-conscious development.
A Step Toward Inclusive Growth
The launch of electric bikes for women and the upcoming Green Bus expansion reflect a vision of inclusive progress. By prioritizing women’s safety, independence, and participation, Balochistan is setting an example for other provinces. These projects not only address transport challenges but also symbolize a broader commitment to empowerment, equality, and sustainable urban growth.
