Apple unlikely to hold event in October, iPhone 15 will lack Touch ID

Apple will not hold an in-person event for its new MacBooks, iPads, or Apple TV, instead announcing the devices on its website.

Apple is expected to release new MacBook Pro 14 and 16 models equipped with updated M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets, as well as new iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 models equipped with the standard M2 chip. Apple TV is also expected to receive an update that includes the Apple A14 chip and 4GB of RAM.

Furthermore, Gurman believes Apple will not reinstate Touch ID on the iPhone 15 or any of the upcoming flagship iPhones in the coming years.

There is a chance that an iPhone SE with a side-mounted Touch ID scanner embedded in the power button will be released in the future.

He also mentions that Apple is testing sleep tracking on the HomePod speaker in its labs, but he does not elaborate on how the tracking works.

Apple stunned the world when it unveiled its premium iPhone 14 series at its ‘Far Out’ event. The devices showcased some of Apple’s most recent technological breakthroughs.

All eyes are now on the next-generation of smartphones, the iPhone 15 series, which is set to be released in 2023. He went on to say that Apple may not include the technology in any future high-end iPhones.
