Apple is most certainly working on a dual-port USB-C wall charger, which might be released in the near future, according to an analyst who claims it is nearing mass production.
According to AppleInsider, a support document briefly posted and then withdrawn from Apple’s website on Friday described the unreleased Apple 35W Dual USB-C Port Power Adapter.
While the leak did not specify when it will be released, it appears that it will be released within the next few months.
TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo picked up on the leak in a Saturday tweet, alleging that components for the item “are nearing mass manufacturing.”
While the entry of an item into production is a positive sign for a product, there is no set timeline for its release; yet, it could appear within a few months.
Kuo is optimistic about the adapter’s prospects, estimating that shipments in 2022 will be in the range of 2 million to 3 million.
Apple has been rumored to be working on GaN chargers for some time, with a delivery date set for 2022.
Although it is unknown whether the leaked charger is a GaN (Gallium Nitride) variant, GaN power adapters are often smaller and more power-efficient than silicon-based models.
Kuo predicted that Apple’s first GaN-based charger will be “around 30W” in March, a claim he repeated in the tweet.
