Two competitions with a combined prize pool of SR 6 million ($1.5 million) have been announced by “LEAP,” the largest technical conference in the world, in an effort to reward entrepreneurs with a Saudi Arabian base and advance cloud computing.
LEAP Competitions
The Rocket Fuel competition, sponsored by the National Information Technology Development Program and the Misk Foundation, aims to foster new enterprises, spotlight entrepreneurial endeavors, and create cutting-edge solutions to technical problems.
90 local startups may participate in the competition for a chance to be one of the 15 chosen to get a portion of SR 4 million, with a top reward of roughly SR 940,000.
Through a variety of tasks that will be set up before the conference kicks up, the Alibaba Cloud hackathon seeks to improve cloud technology in the Kingdom. Prize money from the competition totals SR 2 million.
Major government and corporate institutions, as well as technology and communications enterprises, are expected to participate in LEAP, which will launch its second edition in Riyadh from February 6 to February 9.
The Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and UAE-based IT services and consulting firm Tahaluf are behind the conference.
