Saudi’s largest tech event LEAP will feature 12 NIC startups next month

LEAP’s Startup Competition will feature 12 NIC startups next month

From February 1st to 2nd, Saudi Arabia will host the global technology conference LEAP in Riyadh to address future concerns with technology. There will be 350 speakers from 80 countries, 700 innovators and companies from around the world, and 40,000 local and international attendees at the conference.

LEAP will feature 12 businesses from National Incubation Centers (NICs). ExpertFlow (Healthtech), Mapalytics (AR/VR), Stech (AI), Exbid (Shared economy), Student1stop (Edtech), TB-AI (Healthtech), BizB (Ecommerce), Smart Helmet (Cleantech), Asani.io (AI/Big data), Hukum Janab (Services), Mytm (Fintech), and Arm Rehab Technologies are among the companies featured (Healthtech).

Talking about LEAP, CEO Ignite, Asim Shahryar Husain, said “It is a proud moment for Pakistan, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), Ignite, and our NICs that 12 NIC startups will be participating in LEAP 2022.

It will provide a global platform for Pakistani startups to pitch their business ideas and products to foreign investors. 2021 was a great year for Pakistan startups where investment grew by 5 times over 2020 and 2022 looks even better.”

The event will bring together some of the world’s brightest brains from major technology companies, as well as inspiring entrepreneurs from around the world and venture capitalists who can help make it all happen.

The event will also feature “The Rocket Fuel Startup Competition,” in which businesses will present and pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, angel investors, venture capitalists, and government officials. There is a chance to win a total prize pool of $1 million for startups.

LEAP is organized by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology alongside the Saudi Federation for Cyber Security, Programming, and Drones with the theme “One Eye on the Stars.”

It will discuss future energy technologies that will help the area maintain its leadership in the oil and gas industries, as well as the impact of technology on energy development.

LEAP will also address other issues such as healthcare technologies to improve quality of life and life expectancy, human empowerment through robots, and technology to improve food and water security in the region.

The event will help Ignite’s NIC entrepreneurs scale up, particularly in the MENA region. One NIC startup, “MyTM,” had competed in a similar event at GITEX 2021 and earned first place in the Supernova challenge’s “Creative Economy” category. This provided MyTM with additional networking opportunities in order to expand and raise funds from overseas investors.

“This is the benefit of participation in international events because it provides exposure to our startups and creates new networking and investment opportunities for them,” said CEO Ignite.
