YouTube launching revised directive for AI video content

With the implementation of a new regulation, users can now ask for the removal of synthetic content that mimics their voice or face on YouTube.

Instead of raising concerns about deepfakes or misleading information, people can now request that AI-generated content that violates their privacy be removed under the new policy.

The procedure, which calls for first-party claims, is described in YouTube’s updated Help literature.

It is not applicable to minors, those without computer access, the deceased, or those who meet other specific exclusions.

But filing a takedown request does not ensure that it will be removed.

YouTube’s Criteria

YouTube will evaluate the complaint based on a number of criteria, such as if the video is identified as artificial intelligence (AI) or synthetic

If it uniquely identifies an individual, and if it qualifies as parody, satire, or of public interest.

The business will also take into account whether the AI content includes a famous or popular character.

And if so, whether it depicts them acting in a sensitive manner; for example, by using violence or engaging in criminal conduct or advocating a political candidate or product.

YouTube will allow the uploader of the content 48 hours to respond to a complaint.

The complaint is closed if the content is taken down before the allotted time runs out. If not, a review will be started by YouTube.

Users were also cautioned by the corporation that removal entails the video’s complete removal from the website.

Because the firm has experimented with generative AI directly and has developed conversational tools for asking questions about videos or receiving recommendations.

YouTube has a sophisticated approach to AI-generated content.

Content Producer Won’t Penalize

YouTube will not penalize the original content producer in the event of privacy complaints about AI-generated content.

The business will instead concentrate on resolving the privacy infringement, which is unrelated to violations of the community guidelines.
