The Xbox Series S is well-liked for its low price and high performance, making it an appealing option for those looking to enter the Xbox console ecosystem with a digital-only option.

Xbox Series S onboard storage

However, one disadvantage is the limited onboard storage of 500 GB, which can feel inadequate when keeping up with modern games. Furthermore, while the system’s fast storage speeds help to reduce load times, expanding storage can be costly.

This is why Microsoft has now announced the Carbon Black Series S, a variant of the original Series S console with a generous 1 TB of storage.

With a starting price of $349.99, this version offers a $30 savings over the standard 512 GB Xbox Series S and an additional 512 GB expansion card purchased separately.

The Carbon Black console has the same hardware capabilities as the original Series S, aside from its increased storage capacity. In terms of design, the entry-level console now has a sleek brushed black finish, similar to its larger counterpart, the Series X.

This design evolution is reminiscent of the 360 era, when the initial white launch consoles were eventually complemented by a glossy black redesign and increased storage options, enhancing the user experience even further. The Carbon Black Series S will be available worldwide on December 1.
