Islamabad’s federal schools and colleges have officially announced winter holidays under the Federal Directorate of Education. The decision covers all institutions operating under the federal system. Students, parents, and teachers were informed through a formal notification shared with education offices across the capital before the winter break schedule dates were clearly outlined.
Holiday Dates for Federal Institutions
According to the notification, Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges in urban and rural areas will remain closed from 26 December 2025 to 3 January 2026. The winter break applies equally to boys and girls institutions, ensuring a uniform holiday schedule across the city for all enrolled students and staff members.
Classes to Resume in January
Regular academic activities will resume on Monday, 5 January 2026, following the winter holidays. Students are advised to return on time and prepare for classes. Schools have been instructed to follow the regular timetable once teaching restarts officially without any delay or adjustment requests from parents or learners.
Working Day Announced for Staff
The Federal Directorate of Education also announced that Saturday, 10 January 2026, will be a working day. Administrative, teaching, and non teaching staff will attend duty. This day will be used to complete essential tasks assigned by the Directorate to ensure smooth operations during the new academic period.

Notification Shared with Schools
The winter vacation schedule has been shared with all heads of institutions through Area Education Officers. The notification was issued with the formal approval of the Director General, FDE. Officials said clear communication helps schools plan work and academic calendars effectively, avoiding confusion amid cold weather nationwide this season.
Winter Holidays Across Pakistan
At the national level, provinces have also announced winter holidays due to the cold wave. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, different schedules apply. Schools in summer areas will close from 1 to 15 January, while winter zones observe longer breaks based on climate conditions and local temperature patterns set by authorities there.
Sindh Winter Break Schedule
In Sindh, all public and private schools and colleges will remain closed from 22 to 31 December. Classes will resume on 1 January. However, supplementary board examinations will continue as planned, following the existing examination timetable, without any change for students appearing under boards during the winter break.
Punjab Announces Extended Holidays
The Punjab government has also announced winter holidays for schools across the province. Educational institutions will remain closed from 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026. Teaching activities will resume afterward, helping students return safely after the cold spell, with regular attendance and everyday academic routines restored gradually statewide.
