To help bring communities even closer together, meta-owned WhatsApp launched a new feature that allows people to organise events on the messaging platform.
WhatsApp New Feature
The new events feature allows group members to plan birthday parties, work meetings, and other events, similar to how e-vite services send out invitations via email.
The new feature is pinned to a group’s information page, allowing everyone to see who is coming, hear the inevitable excuses from those who are unable to attend, and confirm who is bringing cookies.
WhatsApp Communities
The events feature will first be available to groups within WhatsApp Communities, and then to all groups in the coming months.
Additionally, WhatsApp is making changes to Announcement Groups, which allow community administrators to send out updates.
