To address the increased demand for US visas, the US Mission in Pakistan has announced new measures. The US Mission stated in a statement that demand for US visas is at an all-time high.

According to the Mission, it is processing more visa applications than ever before and is working hard to reduce visa appointment wait times.
It also proposed three strategies for meeting unprecedented demand:
First, thousands of non-immigrant visa appointments have been expedited. More than 10,000 Pakistani visa applicants originally scheduled for 2024 at the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi are receiving notice that their appointments have been rescheduled in 2023, some as early as next week.

According to the statement, if you have a visa appointment at the US Consulate General in Karachi in the coming months, check your e-mail and log in to your account at ustraveldocs.com/pk to confirm your accelerated appointment time.
Second, to create added flexibility for Pakistani travelers, visa applicants can rebook appointments at either the Consulate General in Karachi or the US Embassy in Islamabad.
Our hope is that this will allow applicants more freedom and flexibility to find a convenient date, time, and location, the statement said.
Granted U.S. visas
Finally, beginning September 25, the United States Consulate General in Karachi will resume accepting fresh interview waiver petitions from select candidates who have previously been granted U.S. visas.
Applicants can visit ustraveldocs.com/pk to see if they are eligible, print a confirmation letter and drop off their application documents at a drop box without an appointment.
- For qualifying individuals, the US Embassy in Islamabad is now accepting interview waiver applications.
- Taken together, these efforts reflect how much the United States values our bilateral relationship.
- The Mission also stated that its purpose is to expedite and streamline legitimate travel to the United States.
