According to DW Africa, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has banned visas for visitors from 20 African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, and Sudan.

According to the details, many visitors from these countries overstayed their visas, often working illegally in the UAE. Nigeria announced a month ago that citizens under the age of 40 will not be granted tourist visas to the UAE.
This was due to the UAE changing its visa rules and no longer granting tourist visas to younger Nigerians unless they were joining their families there.
The following is a complete list of the 20 African countries whose citizens are barred from visiting Dubai:
- Ghana
- The Republic of Sierra Leone
- Sudan
- Cameroon
- Nigeria
- Liberia
- Burundi
- Guinea Republic
- Gambia
- Togo
- The Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Senegal
- Ivory Coast Benin
- Congo
- Rwanda
- Burkina Faso (Burkina Faso)
- The Republic of Guinea Bissau
- Comoros
- Uganda
It is also worth noting that this is not the first time that African countries have been denied access to Dubai.
Emirates, a leading Dubai-based airline, barred passengers from eight African countries from traveling to or transiting through Dubai on December 29, 2021.
It was prompted by concerns about the COVID-19 Omicron variant. Ghana, Uganda, and Kenya were added to the list later on.
