The Punjab government has decided to establish two additional schools for transgender people in Lahore. These new schools will be in Raiwind and Wagah.
The School Education Department (SED) will give free books, stationery, and uniforms to transgender students at all three schools
Each student will receive a scholarship of Rs. 10,000. Rs. 5,000 will be for books and stationery and Rs. 5,000 for travel.
They must have an 80% attendance rate to get the scholarship. Earlier, they set up similar schools in Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said, “We will make schools for non-binary people in every district.”
Before now, nine out of 11 parts of Punjab already had schools for non-binary people. The last government started these, with the help of Murad Raas, who was the Minister for School Education in Punjab at the time.
Alisha Sherazi, a transgender person and former helper for UNDP, said that the government didn’t call her school about starting new schools.
The schools are in D.G. Khan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Multan, and Bahawalpur. She said the school in Lahore was closed.
Alisha Sherazi said three schools teach jobs to non-binary people. They teach things like IT, sewing, cooking, and makeup. Other schools teach normal classes.
Officials didn’t have the exact number of non-binary people in Punjab, Alisha said.
